Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a large bowl, combine beef, 1/4 can mushroom soup, bread crumbs, egg, onions, and steak seasoning. Mix thoroughly and shape into 4 oval patties.
  • Heat oil and 1 tablespoon butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown patties on both sides and transfer to a plate.
  • Add remaining butter and cognac (remove pan from heat when adding cognac or white wine.) Saute mushrooms for 7 to 8 minutes.
  • Add beef stock and whisk in gravy mix until smooth. Stir in remaining mushroom soup.
  • Return patties to skillet and spoon gravy over top. Cover pan and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Serve Salisbury Steaks and Mushroom Gravy over hot cooked rice.

So delish! Made a few changes as posted earlier. I forgot to mention I added a clove of garlic to the mushroom/onion saute.

This sounds really good! I'm currently making this recipe but will be making a few changes. I've added a pinch of nutmeg, 1 ½ T. of horseradish, and a splash of Worchestershire sauce to the meat mixture. I'm omitting the butter and using Olive Oil instead of Canola. Instead of dry white wine, I will be using a dry red. I will also be throwing in about a cup of loosely cut onions in with the mushrooms. Tonight, I will be serving this over quinoa instead of rice and garnishing with shredded Romano cheese.

Oh Laura ;D I love the addition of the 1/4 cup cognac in this recipe I would add a finely minced onion to this as my preference.
