The Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY is where the world was introduced to Buffalo Wings...Got this from LHJ a long time ago and have been making them this way ever since. They go great with a nice cold beer or two

Ingredients
  • 26-30 chicken wingettes
  • 6 tbls Louisiana Hot Sauce ( I use Franks)
  • 1/2 stick margarine, as much as you will want to, do not use butter
  • 1 tbls vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp celery seed
  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, I like heat so I use 1/4
  • 1/8 tsp garlic salt
  • pepper to your taste
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce, I use 2
  • Carrot and celery sticks to garnish
  • Blue Cheese Dressing
  • Oil to fry

Directions
  1. M ix all ingredients in a small sauce pan over low heat until the margarine is melted
  2. Fry 1/2 of the wings in a dutch oven with oil about 4 inches high and oil at 375 for 12 to 15 minutes
  3. Drain the wings on paper towel
  4. Repeat with remaining wings
  5. Place in large bowl with lid
  6. Pour sauce over wings
  7. Cover the bowl and shake to completely coat the wings.
  8. To make wings more crunchy, I put under broiler for a few minutes but no need to
  9. Serve with carrot, celery sticks, and Blue Cheese Dressing and cold beer

Great recipe, I too have been to the Anchor bar and had the wings. these are spot on in flavor.Just think Theresa made up the wing recipe on a late night when her son and his buddies came in to the bar with the munchies.Just goes to show that an imaginative cook can come up with a winner when you are willing to improvise. thanks for the recipe.
