As I made this today (still baking as I type :-P) I noticed Nelle has two ways to make this - so I ended up doing your pound cake this way: Oven is at 325 degrees and separate eggs, beaten egg yolks separately till thick and light yellow. Beat egg whites separately till stiff but not dry. Add beaten egg yolks to creamed butter and sugar, then flour, then slowly add whipped egg whites.
Since I didn't have vanilla extract, I used the seeds of a vanilla bean and added lemon extract instead. smells and batter tasted fantastic!

Grandma Nelle knew her stuff! Pound cakes are always a good thing to have around. Especially when fresh strawberries are coming soon!!
