Ingredients

How to make it

  • Boil squash and onions until tender; drain well
  • Add butter,cheese, cracker crumbs,egg and salt.
  • Pour in well-greased baking or caserole dish
  • Top with Ritz or regular cracker crumbs and dot with butter.
  • Bake at 375 for about 20-25 minutes, or until crackers start to brown.

    Pointsevenout, it's not supposed to "stand tall" on your plate. It is supposed to be about the consistency of mashed potatoes. You spoon it onto your plate. :) Enjoy! Sounds like it turned out just right!

    sounds YUMMM! i'm trying this one 2nite! we LOVE squash but here on the Southern east coast, we have a problem w/ systemic squash bugs -- nasty, big, fat, caterpillars INside the stem -- which really cuts our season short. i'd love advice from anybody who has a cure for these. <3

    Plenty tasty! The cut piece on the plate doesn't stand tall. It kind of schlubs down into a mound. Nonetheless I would make it again.
    A 2-quart casserole dish fits nicely. It doesn't bubble over. Half a sleeve of saltines make 3/4 cup crushed. A full sleeve of Ritz crackers fits nicely on top.
