Maries Crunch Cake

- 2 Cups flour shopping list
- 2 Cups sugar shopping list
- 1 Cup vegetable shortening shopping list
- 6 Whole eggs shopping list
- 1 Teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1 Teaspoon lemon extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 325
- Put all ingredients into a large mixing bowl and beat all at one time.
- Test, by dropping a little batter into a cup of cold water.
- If it floats, it is ready to bake. I don't think you can overbeat it, though.
- Grease and lightly flour a tube cake pan.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake at 325 degrees for about one hour and fifteen minutes.
- Cool slightly and remove from pan by inverting.
- Place on a cake plate right side up.
- Is GREAT served warm with peaches or any fresh or canned fruit.

I love old recipes and this sounds like a keeper...I have never heard of testing the batter by dropping it in water (something to remember)
