How to make it

  • Core and slice apples, no need to pare them.
  • In a large sauce pot, cook apples and sweet cider until apples are soft, about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Press through a fine sieve.
  • Return to sauce pot with sugar, cinnamon and cloves, and cook slowly, about 3 hours, stirring often.
  • Pour into 4 hot pint canning jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space.
  • Wipe rim of jars, place lids and screw bands on jars.
  • Process in boiling water bath for ten (10) minutes.
  • Remove jars and place on wire rack to cool, test for seal.
