Ingredients
  • 4 slices of rye bread......
  • 5 ounces of shaved pastrami......
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese or swiss
  • BBQ sauce to serve...
  • *************************************
  • ************ chutney *************
  • 2 -tablespoons butter
  • 2 -tablespoons chili oil
  • 2 -red onions, sliced
  • 1 -teaspoon black mustard seeds
  • 2 -tablespoons sherry vinegar.......
  • salt and pepper to taste ......

Directions
  1. make the chutney .
  2. heat the butter and chili oil in a frying pan and add the onions and mustard seeds.
  3. fry gently over low heat for about 15 minutes until the onions are soft and lightly golden in color.
  4. stir in the sherry vinegar..........season well and set aside to cool.
  5. spoon the onion chutney onto two slices of rye bread and layer the pastrami on top.
  6. place the cheese slices on the pastrami and top with the bread lids.
  7. toast in a sandwich grill for 3 to 4 minutes until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted.
  8. serve immediately with BBQ sauce..............or your favorite sauce

This does lok great! I love pastrami!


I will have to get out my Panini press for this recipe but it is worth the extra effort to make this wonderful sandwich
