How to make it

  • make the chutney .
  • heat the butter and chili oil in a frying pan and add the onions and mustard seeds.
  • fry gently over low heat for about 15 minutes until the onions are soft and lightly golden in color.
  • stir in the sherry vinegar..........season well and set aside to cool.
  • spoon the onion chutney onto two slices of rye bread and layer the pastrami on top.
  • place the cheese slices on the pastrami and top with the bread lids.
  • toast in a sandwich grill for 3 to 4 minutes until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted.
  • serve immediately with BBQ sauce..............or your favorite sauce

    Like to try it. The closest thing to a sandwich grill I have is a George Foreman grill....it should work with the correct pressure on the top. Let you know when I try it.

    It was good and I would make again. I used turkey pastrami and walla walla onions instead.
