How to make it

  • In Dutch oven, sprinkle the brisket lightly with liquid smoke, Worcestershire, celery, onion, and garlic salt
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight
  • Bake the brisket, covered at 275 degrees for 5-6 hours (can bake in the Dutch oven, or wrap in wide heavy duty foil before placing in a large shallow pan)
  • When done, let cool for about 1 hour, then place in refrigerator
  • After the meat is cool, slice thin (may then replace in refrigerator until ready to reheat or may pour the sauce over meat and reheat at this time)
  • When ready to serve, just pour the sauce over the sliced brisket and heat thoroughly
  • In saucepan, combine all the ingredients for the sauce
  • Simmer for about 30 minutes
  • Pour sauce over meat and heat in oven
