How to make it

  • Add garlic and stir for a minute.
  • Add port and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring.
  • Add remaining ingredients and reduce the liquid to a marmalade consistency.
  • Remove from heat, and let stand until cool. Refrigerate, and warm to room temperature before serving.

We had a wonderful filet mignon at a local restaurant that used a similar sauce as the base of the presentation. The steak was grilled then set on a plate with this sauce at the base and topped with a very creamy gorgonzola. It was fantastic. This recipe seemed spot on so we tried it with wonderful results. We made it for friends (one didn't like the looks of it as it was a rather murky/crime scene color- haha). When they dug in they were ooohing and aaahing. Now they want it served for them on their birthdays. Highly recommend!

This sounds like something Hubby and his macho friends will be getting for Chrismas! Always on the lookout for macho food gifts for them as they seem to be always looking for the unique foods.
It also looks like something I would love, just for snacking with a roll. YUMMMM!

This sounds marvelous! Love the idea of the depth of flavor from the port and balsamic with the zing of orange. Will be a must do next roast beef menu in our household!
