How to make it

  • Cook bacon in a large pot then add cleaned vegetables cut into chunks.
  • Brown veggies thoroughly then remove from pot.
  • Roll roast in flour, salt and pepper mixture then add roast to pot and brown.
  • Return veggies to pot and add water to cover then add bay leaves and simmer 5 hours.
  • Remove roast and bay leaves.
  • Mix remainder of liquid and vegetables in blender with sour cream.
  • Pour gravy over roast and serve with potato dumplings.
