Whole Wheat Chocolate Cake With Cocoa Frosting

- 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup flour unbleached sifted shopping list
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour stirred shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking soda shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 1/4 cup cocoa shopping list
- 2 large eggs beaten shopping list
- cocoa Frosting: shopping list
- 1/2 cups butter shopping list
- 6 teaspoons milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1 pound powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Stir together sugar, flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda and salt.
- Combine butter, water and cocoa in saucepan.
- Bring mixture to a boil stirring constantly then remove from heat and pour into flour mixture.
- Mix well using wooden spoon then blend in eggs and sour cream mixing well.
- Pour batter into greased rectangular baking pan and bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
- Cool in pan on rack while you prepare frosting.
- Pierce several holes in cake with fork while still warm.
- Combine butter, milk and cocoa then cook over medium heat until butter is melted.
- Stir in powdered sugar that has been sifted twice then continue to cook until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat then stir in vanilla and frost cake immediately.
