Stuffed Burgers Texan style

- 2 pounds ground beef or ground turkey shopping list
- 6 frozen cheese filled poppers shopping list
- 1 cup mild or medium salsa shopping list
- 4 oz. Velvetta brand cheese shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper shopping list
- 3 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder shopping list
- 1 tablespoon creole spice shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper shopping list
- 6 hamburger buns, toasted lightly shopping list
How to make it
- In skillet, saute onions and bell pepper in butter until just tender.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, and spices.
- Add onions and bell pepper and mix well.
- Divide ground beef mixture into six equal parts.
- Mold each part of ground beef around one popper.
- Cook on hot grill or on George Foreman type grill until cooked throughly.
- In a glass microwave safe dish, melt Velvetta cheese.
- Stir in salsa.
- Lightly toast buns on grill.
- Place one burger on each bun, top with cheese sauce and serve with additional burger dressings(tomatoes, lettuce, etc)

I like adding salsa to the cheese to add some needed heat to the recipe. That hidden Popper is a great treat when you bite into the burger.
