Ingredients
  • 1 (9") pie crust, homemade or ready-made, baked and cooled
  • 3 squares semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 3/4 cup butter softened (do not use margarine)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • Whipped topping
  • Chocolate curls (optional)

Directions
  1. Prepare pie crust according to pkg. directions, or your own favorite homemade single crust. Bake and allow to cool.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate, cool. In a large bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Blend in cooled chocolate and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating at medium speed for 5 minutes after each addition. Pour into cooled crust. Refrigerate at least 2 hrs. before serving Garnish with whipped topping and shaved chocolate curls.
  3. Keep stored in the refrigerator.

Hi lillian! We LOVE this recipe. As stated above, my friend gave it to me years and years ago. One of the first recipes I obtained when I was newly married. Really easy to make but so velvety and rich. Let me know if you try it!


My mom gave me this recipe also. It's really true that it doesn't work with margarine or anything but real butter. I've tried, and just had to throw the mess it created away.By the way, it is really fabulous
