How to make it

  • In a pan heat the oil and add the meat. Break up and cook till brown (5 minutes).
  • Remove the meat and set aside.
  • In a lg pan, add some oil. Saute the onions, garlic and mushrooms.
  • Add the tomatoes and the remaining ingredients.
  • Simmer for 1 hour.

    I also make soup whenever I feel like it. I never understood why people didn't eat it in summer, they eat other hot foods. My grandmother said, eat or drink something hot, to cool you off. The soup sounds wonderful!

    I make soup whenever I get the craving for it; winter or summer. My husband thought i'd lost my mind when I made split pea & ham soup last week when it was 90-plus degrees! Your soup looks wonderful. I will certainly try it. Thanks!
