How to make it

  • Mix pears, orange, cherries, pineapple, lemon juice, nuts, coconut.
  • Cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until the fruit mixture
  • comes to a full boil.
  • Add the sugar, stirring constantly and boil hard for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add the pectin.
  • Skim and stir for 5 minutes. Pour into hot containers and seal at once.
  • 9 (6 oz.) glasses.

    I thought the whole idea behind the way pectin works is to activate it by boiling for one minute at high boil in with the fruit.
