CREAMY MUSHROOM SAUCE

- 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup finely minced onion shopping list
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced shopping list
- 2 Tablespoons lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- Dash ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
How to make it
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and cook 2 minutes until tender, but not brown (they should look "clear"). Add mushrooms. Sprinkle with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Cook 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream. Use as desired.
- Note: Sometimes I mix half of the sauce with cooked egg noodles, top the noodles with boneless, baked chicken breasts, and pass the remaining sauce in a gravy boat to serve.
