Portuguese Traditional Fishermans Stew - Caldeirada De Peixe

- 2 yellow onions, finelly sliced (ring shape) shopping list
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped shopping list
- 1 red pepper, roughly chopped shopping list
- 1 green pepper, roughly chopped shopping list
- 8 medium size potatoes, sliced shopping list
- 2 tomatoes, skinless, finelly chopped shopping list
- 2 pounds fresh fish of your choice, cut in pieces (hand palm size) shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 1 tbsp paprika shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- Half a bottle of white wine shopping list
How to make it
- On a big pan, layer the ingredients on the following order:
- potatoes
- onions and garlic
- fish
- mix of green and red peppers
- chopped tomato
- a good pinch salt and pepper, paprika and bay leaf
- Repeat the same order and end with a layer of potatoes.
- Pour the wine over the layers and put the lid on. Allow it to cook slowly in low heat. The wine should be enough to create the necessary juices to cook this dish. You may add boiling water if needed.
