Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups ‘best-for-bread’ flour
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 whole egg, beaten
  • pizza sauce (small can) –*** or make your own; recipe follows.
  • 1/8 lb Polish sausage, thinly sliced
  • 1/8 lb. pepperoni, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 large radishes, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup green olives, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup ripe olives, finely chopped
  • 1/8 cup anchovies (optional)
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Mozzarella cheese, grated (amount is your choice)
  • Cheddar cheese, grated (amount is your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ================================
  • The homemade pizza sauce:
  • In a saucepan, combine these ingredients…
  • 4 large tomatoes, ripe, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne powder
  • ½ medium green pepper, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup REAL bacon bits
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp Italian salad dressing
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 1/8 cup water

Directions
  1. The sauce:
  2. Combine all listed ingredients for the sauce...
  3. On medium high heat, cook until the contents reduce to half, stirring often to prevent sticking
  4. Allow the sauce to cool completely
  5. Grind the sauce with a hand blender, or food processor until it is smooth and fine
  6. In the interim, work on your pizza dough…
  7. ================================
  8. The Dough:
  9. Combine all the dry ingredients
  10. Combine the yeast mixture with the beaten egg and oil.
  11. Add slowly to dry ingredients, mixing well, until the dough starts to come away from the bowl.
  12. Add more flour as needed to make the dough workable
  13. Gently knead the dough, folding, pressing, and turning, for about 5 minutes.
  14. This dough does not have to be kneaded to the smooth and blistered stage.
  15. Butter and flour the pizza pan
  16. Now, shape the dough into a ball, and gradually flatten out to fit the pizza pan.
  17. Let the dough sit for about five minutes to dry a little on top, then begin adding ingredients:
  18. Add the tomato sauce first
  19. Top with the aforementioned ingredients, and sprinkle with the cheeses
  20. ================================
  21. To bake:
  22. Preheat oven to 425*F
  23. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown, and the center of the pizza is bubbling
  24. Allow the finished pizza to rest for about five minutes to allow the tomato sauce to firm up.
  25. ================================
  26. ***alternative topping suggestions:
  27. yellow or orange sweet pepper
  28. pineapple
  29. lemon or lime zest
  30. jalapeno peppers
  31. chives
  32. Gruyere’ cheese
  33. Sweet pepper seeds (for a nice, nutty flavor)
  34. Parsley
  35. Broken cashew nuts
  36. ENJOY! :+D

WOW, Elaine! Wait till Peter sees this. He's off running some errands right now, so I decided to get in here. It's a fantastic recipe and I rated it a five.
Take care of that cold and I hope you feel better soon.

I buy fresh home made dough from the deli down the street! Sooo...I will skip that step. But the combo of ingredients sounds great. I will have to try out on the family some night!
