Meat Pies aka English Pasties

- What You Need: shopping list
- For 6 - 8 pasties shopping list
- 3/4 c. ground beef (1 lb.) shopping list
- 1 onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 russet potato, finely chopped shopping list
- 2 -3 garlic cloves, minced shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste (approximately 1/2 - 1 tsp.) shopping list
- 2 boxes ready-made pie crust dough shopping list
- 1 egg, beaten shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425
- In medium-sized bowl, mix ground beef, onion, potato, garlic, salt and pepper.
- Cut pie crust rounds in half. On each of the halves of dough, center a small handful of meat mixture on one side and fold the other side of dough over meat, creating a triangle shape. Gently press along edges to seal pastie, trim outside edges and place on cookie sheet.
- Lightly coat tops of pasties with beaten egg.
- Place pasties in oven at 425 for 15 minutes, then lower to 325 and bake for an additional 45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is completely cooked.
