This is the best recipe I have ever used for pie curst. It's flakey and delicious. This recipe came from my mother-in-law.

This is great! I've always preferred using shortening in pie crust as well. Some people like tender pie crust and some like it flakey. If you want tender, use butter. If you like flakey, shortening is the way to go. This one sounds like a real winner to me. I love that it makes enough to freeze for a later use if you like.

This recipe is similar to one I found in my mom's recipe files called French Pie crust. I never made it because I always have apple cider vinegar and I wasn't sure if it would work. The recipe she had called for white vinegar. Does it matter?
