clam chowder

- 4 slices bacon, cut in small cubes shopping list
- 3 green onions and tops , chopped shopping list
- 5 medium sized potatoes peeled and cut in 1/2" cubes shopping list
- 2 tbl. chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1 stalk celery sliced shopping list
- 1 carrot finely sliced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 2 cup water shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- 1 teas worcestershire shopping list
- 4 drops tabasco shopping list
- 2 cup chopped raw clams with juice shopping list
- 1 pint [2 cups] light cream shopping list
How to make it
- in a large, heavy kettle, saute bacon until crisp; add green onions and tops, potatoes,green pepper,celery,carrot, and garlic.
- pour in water and season with salt, pepper,worcestershire and tabasco. cover pan and simmer 15 minutes, or untill potatoes are tender. mash mixture slightly with potato masher. in a seperate pan, heat clams in there own juice for 3 minutes, or till tender. add clams to soup; add cheese. stir well
- then heat just until piping hot don't boil
- serves 4 as a main dish

I love clam chowder and have never tried to make it myself. I always just popped open a can. But, now I'll make my own...thanks, this sounds great and easy to make.
