Sausage and Green Chile Strata

- 1 lb. bulk pork sausage shopping list
- 3 slices white bread shopping list
- soft butter or margarine shopping list
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese shopping list
- 4 eggs slightly beaten shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard shopping list
- 1/4 cup green chiles, drained seeded and chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Crumble sausage in medium skillet: cook over high heat stirring frequently until meat is browned.
- Drain off excess grease and set aside
- Remove crusts from bread, lightly butter one side of each slice and cut into cubes.
- Place half of the bread cubes in bottom of a buttered 8" square pan
- Sprinkle with half of the cheese and cover with the sausage.
- Place remaining bread cubes over sausage and top with cheese.
- Combine eggs, milk and seasonings
- Pour over cheese and bread cubes.
- Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight
- Before baking sprinkle with chopped green chilies .
- Bake uncovered at 350 for 1 hour until golden brown and set.
