Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine dry ingredients, other than parsley. Set aside
  • Add beaten egg to buttermilk, then add bacon grease and parsley and stir to combine.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry and mix just til combined. DO NOT OVER MIX
  • Let rest about 10 minutes while oil is preheating.
  • Drop by large spoonful into 350 oil and fry until golden brown. Hush puppies should flip on their own when one side is done. :)

    One of my cousins uses beer instead of buttermilk for her hush puppies. I haven't tried it yet, but she claims they are really good. I nicknamed them "Drunk Puppies". teehee

    I LOVE hushpuppies and these were super easy to make! I accidentally left out the cayenne, probably a good thing since the little one loved them how they were, and they were still awesome! Served with some fried tilapia and cilantro coleslaw! Yum!

    I have never had a hush puppy (not really big in New England-probably why Wynne hasn't either) but they sure so look good.
