Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe
This recipe came from Penzey's. It's much easier than stuffing the cabbage leaves but has the same flavor when served over white rice

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 8 cup cabbage cut into 1 inch wide strips
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 – 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1T brown sugar
  • 1 T white vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp whole caraway seed
  • 1 tap granulated garlic

Directions
  1. In a large skillet, brown the meat and drain off grease.
  2. Add the onion and cook about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the cabbage and water cook about 5 min.
  4. Add the tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, salt, caraway, and garlic. Bring to a boil reduce heat and simmer until cabbage is tender about 30 minutes.
  5. Serve with white rice.
