STEAK WITH CREOLE SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Teak Estate in Montgomery, Texas in 1990.

Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 pound canned tomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pound lean boneless steak

Directions
  1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat then add onions and peppers and sauté 5 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes and seasonings then cover and let simmer over low heat 25 minutes.
  3. Trim all visible fat off steak then brown in pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
  4. Cook 5 minutes per side then transfer steak to rectangular baking dish and pour sauce over top.
  5. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour then remove and slice and place on a serving platter.
  6. Spoon sauce over steak and serve.
