Ingredients

How to make it

  • Pare squash,cutin half lenghtwise, remove seeds,
  • then half crosswise into pieces about 3" long.
  • Place pieces flat on board and cut into thin strips,
  • place in bowl and sprinkle with salt. Let stand about 1 hour.
  • Lift out of bowl and dry with paper towels.
  • Melt butter in skillet, add onionand cook until tender,
  • add squash, paprika, sugar,vinegar and snipped dill,
  • cover and cook 10 -12 min. Or until tender.
  • sprinkle flour over top of squash, gently stir, then cook 2-3 min.
  • Pour in water and cook about 1 min.
  • Gently stir in sour cream.
  • Serve at once.

    What a great recipe, Paprikamama! I made this twice already this summer. I am making it for a third time right now, yum! It is very similar to my mother’s tok fozelek. The only difference is that she would make a roux with paprika and then add it to the tok. I made it with yellow squash the first and second time and today I mixed yellow and green squash (zucchini) and it is great too.

    Gosh this sounds good. I've heard of the squash being fried in bacon fat- even better! Love sour cream and this dish sounds just up my alley and would go great with some slow barbecued chuck roast or chicken.

    I'm trying this tonight, it's yellow squash with dill and sour cream, just what I was dreaming of and not sure how to put it together.

    This is my absolute favorite dish ever! It is very similar to the way that I make mine. It's great with roast pork. Oh, I wish summer was here!

    Thanks Tpatti...I really do love to cook...LOLOL...have you ever had a man to tell you to "stop" cooking so much...?.....well thats my hubby....LOLOOLOLOLOOL...but you know what...he eats it and always lets me know his opinion...its most always "Mmmmmmmmm this is awesome".....LOLOLOLOLOL
