Stuffed Hamburger Swingers Recipe
STUFFED HAMBURGER SWINGERS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Ouzo Estate in Seagoville, Texas in 1982.

Ingredients
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion peeled and finely diced
  • 1/4 cup tomato finely diced
  • 1/4 cup green pepper finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 large yellow onions peeled and thinly sliced

Directions
  1. Combine garlic, diced onion, tomato, green bell pepper and oregano.
  2. Add salt and pepper then mix well and cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
  3. Combine ground beef, egg, salt and pepper then shape into eight flat patties.
  4. Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of one patty and top with a second patty.
  5. Press down firmly and shape into a round seal edges by pinching together.
  6. Repeat with remaining patties then heat oil over medium high heat in large nonstick skillet.
  7. Sauté sliced onions until lightly brown then transfer to a bowl and keep warm.
  8. Brown hamburgers for 5 minutes on each side then return onions to pan to reheat.
  9. Serves patties immediately covered with onions.

Hey Meow, I like the sound of this and I know the kids would love it. I think I will saute garlic, onion, bell pepper, tomato and seasonins and drain off and then stuff the patties with them. Anyway you look at it - it's a winner. Thanks for sharing. I gave it "5". - Susana


This one is great too but i might try it with diced bacon and mushrooms in there also. think i will try both. thanks again as always a 5 or above .

This is a great idea--re-framing ground meat. I usually have ground turkey on hand. I love this! 55555555 to you.
