Ingredients

How to make it

  • Pre-heat your favorite grill. Gas grills should be set to Medium-High. Charcoal should have an even layer of hot coals spread across the bottom.
  • Divide the 1 lb. of hamburger into six equal-sized patties. Set three of the patties aside to be used later.
  • Place some of the Gouda and bacon in the center of three of the patties. Note - do not over-fill the burgers, or they will burst at the seams.
  • Take the 3 left-over patties, and place on top of the three you have been working with. Fold/press the edges together, to form one burger.
  • Season both sides with salt and pepper to your own taste.
  • Grill until well-done (approximately 5-7 minutes per side).
  • Place any remaining Gouda on top of the burgers two minutes before taking them off the grill.
  • Serve on a bun with your favorite hamburger condiments.

Awesome recipe! We had these tonight with more gouda on top and they were a big hit with everyone! Thanks for the great recipe and can't wait to make them on the grill when it gets a tad warmer.

These were delicious!! Only difference I made was to make into 4 patties and I used my George Foreman grill since it was too cold to grill outside. I think because of the angle of the GF grill, a lot of the cheese seeped out so we had to add some on top when done. This one is a keeper for sure! Thanks, susan!
