How to make it

  • Place water in pot and bring to a boil over medium high heat
  • Bring tempurature down so that the water is at a simmer
  • removed wrapping on can and place in pot
  • Cook in simmering water for 3 hours
  • Open can and ENJOY!

    You can also make it using 1 qt milk, one cup sugar, and a vanilla bean. Cook for one hour, remove the bean, add one tsp baking power (or soda can't remember) and let cook down. Will store for 4 weeks.

    i have made this before, we dip sliced apples into it and eat, other fruits would work also, i have used it as frosting in center of a cake, so good!

    One thing to be very careful about is to make sure that the can is covered with water at all times. If it is not, the can will explode (one of my students was cleaning her kitchen for weeks). I solve this problem by using a tall pasta pot, laying the cans (yes, do more than 1 can - it keeps indefinitely unopened) on their side and filling 3/4 of the way full. I also put the lid on the pot which helps keep the water from evaporating away.
