How to make it

  • Shred the cabbage, and cut the onions into 1/2 inch long pieces.
  • Combine the other ingredients in a large bowl and mix.
  • Add vegetables to marinade.
  • Cover with a dish that fits just inside the bowl and rests on the cabbage.
  • Place weight on the dish, about 2 pounds, and let stand for at least 2 hours.
  • Drain before serving.
