From ditty 14 years agoIngredients
- 1st group shopping list
- 1 kg steak shopping list
- 3 tablespoons of oil shopping list
- 2nd group shopping list
- onion (chopped) shopping list
- 1 apple (peeled and chopped) shopping list
- ¼ cup chopped raisins shopping list
- 1½ cups (250g) chopped dates shopping list
- 2 teaspoons curry powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of grated lemon rind shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice shopping list
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste shopping list
- 2 teaspoons of worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 tablespoon fruit chutney shopping list
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (preferrably brown or raw) shopping list
- 2 cups of beef stock shopping list
- 3rd group shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of cornflour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of water shopping list
How to make it
- What you do :-)
- Dice the steak into cubes (the thickness of your steak will govern the size of the cubes.
- Brown the meat in the pan with the oil.
- Add the 2nd group ingredients, and bring to the boil. Immediately reduce heat and simmer covered for 1½ hours or until the meat is tender (i.e. falls apart).
- Stir in the blended cornflour and water (3rd group ingredients) and keep stirring over medium heat until the mixture bubbles (nearly boiling) and thickens.
- Serve curry on bed of rice.
- If you give it a go I hope you enjoy it – you can use traditional or hot curry powder – depending on the weather which one I choose
- If I cook this early in the day for the evening meal I dump the lot into a slow cooker (on low) for the time leading up to dinner - just makes it nicer!

Ditty - this sounds wonderful. I can't wait to make it - like the idea of putting it in a slower cooker to finish.
Thanks,
