How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees..............
  • Melt chocolate and butter; cool 10 minutes...............
  • In separate bowl, mix four eggs with sugar...............
  • Whisk..............
  • Add flour and whisk............
  • Add remaining three eggs..............
  • Add egg mixture to chocolate mixture............
  • Pour in individual ramekins.....................
  • Bake until just done, about 15-20 minutes (interior will melting)............
  • dust with powdered sugar.......serve warm.....
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream.............yummmm.........

    it is kinda confusing,, but i eat so many of them when we go on the cruises, they are my favorate with ice cream as my night snack.,,, my lunch snack supper snack and breadfast to ,,oh i eat them more then anything else on the ship....so far i haven't gained but now that i have the recipe at home i am gonna try it and i feel so sorry for all those that gain wieght easy,,,,i do now there was a time i could eat everything and couldn't get to 100 pds ........that is no longer the case sense i have gotten older..........boooo hoooo.....making cold bread pudding right now gotta go

    I read the comments and got nervous...but decided to make it anyways.. to avoid egg snot...stir faster and for a longer amount of time..to avoid egg taste, I added in a little extra chocolate, mine turned out amazing. Oh. la. la.

    I made these several times since our cruise last month. 1 less egg And use unsalted butter, it really makes a huge difference when baking.....and presto....watch your cook time also. I leave my oven light on so I can watch them closely. If you like more sweet then try adding 1 tablespoon of super more per trial until you get your desired lever of sweetness.....yummy!!! Oh and the actual size of your ramekin will have a huge affect on bake time

    Made these twice using this exact recipe. Both times I threw the cakes away. I thought the first time I overcooked them and they were rubbery/eggy, both inside and out. The second time was a little better, but still rubbery on the outside with more lava in the middle. The nasty part was that my daughter found egg snot in her lava. I agree with a previous poster that they need less eggs and more flour. These definitely don't taste like the ones we had on our cruise.

    JLRuss ate it and said...
    The ides is there...but the ingredients need improvement. Maybe one or two fewer eggs, 1/4 c more flour, and a tablespoon or two more sugar. The color wasn't quite dark enough and the consistency was a little off...very eggy too! I threw mine away :-P now my stomach hurts. Blah :-P

    Just made this recipe, nate96r is correct, just a tad eggy. This recipe should have 1-2 less eggs and a little bit more chocalate! I also notice 15 minutes is a little to long, could be my altitude or something cause everything I cook comes out burnt if I follow the instruction. Also maybe a little vanilla in this would be good if you want to change it up a bit!

    I tried making this today, as I'm dying for more of this cake after getting back from my cruise. Sadly it really doesn't taste like the same cake as on the boat. Tasted like chocolate eggs to me. 7 eggs seems like way too much.

    Has anyone else tried making this with good results? I need to figure this out lol
