Fried Apples With Bacon Recipe
FRIED APPLES WITH BACON This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pittman Estate in Hurst, Texas in 1993.

Ingredients
  • 4 large granny smith apples cored and cut into thick slices
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 pound bacon chopped

Directions
  1. Place apples in bowl then add sugar, juice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves then toss to coat.
  2. Sauté bacon in skillet over medium heat until crisp then drain bacon on paper towels.
  3. Add apples to bacon drippings in skillet and sauté until apples are tender about 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer apples and juices in skillet to bowl then sprinkle with bacon.
