I love Coney Islands and we can not get them here.. So my friend sent me this recipe. I think it is wonderful. Give it a try!

Ingredients
- 1 pound very lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Dash of black pepper
- Dash of red pepper
- 1 can tomato sauce, the small one.
- 3 cans water
- 1-2 teaspoons ketchup
- 2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
Directions
- Brown the beef, breaking it up as small as you can.
- Add the onions and sweat them with the meat
- Add rest of the ingredents
- Stir and simmer for up to 3 hours.
- Serve over your favorite dogs... I top mine with mustard and more onion!

Here in Jackson, Michigan real coney sauce is made with finely ground beef heart. We made it sveral years ago. We had to grind the heart at least twice to get the fine consistency we wanted. Try it, you'll like it!
