thats a tough one.. I don't know what they are called and I can't make them for the life of me but they are little balls of dough in a big pile of honey. but I love all cookies it would be easier to tell you the one I don't love. Gingerbread don't get me wrong I'll still eat them if there in the vacinity but not my first choice...

Cookies that my mom found in some cookbook when I was little! (Under 5 years old). Jim Dandies. Posted in the group.

She only makes them once a year! Now that she's older, she doesn't get to them every year. I can remember Dad having to beat the icing for her because her arm would get tired. I am taking over the tradition now.

It's a thick-batter, cakey-type chocolate cookie with maraschino cherries in the batter, half of a big marshmallow on top, and her homemade icing/fudge recipe pour over the top. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Oh, it's gotta be Almond Lace Wafers...so time-consuming, but they MELT in your mouth (and fall apart in your hand) when you eat them. They spread out to a thin layer on the cookie sheet, then it's all in the timing to roll them around a wooden spoon handle while they are still hot but will hold their shap when you remove the spoon handle. I can only make 3 per cookie sheet because of the rolling "issue", but they are so worth the effort. I haven't had the time to make them in a couple years, but maybe this year?!?!? I'm with Laurie - it would be easier to name the cookies I don't like - date or dried fruit...just not my favorite, but I sure wouldn't turn one down!!!! Your'e making me very, very, very hungry over my lunch hour, ya know!

Wow - you all have really left some great cookie memories. I know my mom used to bake a peanut butter cookie that was like a ravioli.......peanut butter sliced cookies with peanut butter and another cookie on top. Sometimes we would put mini chocolate chips inside. I have tried to find that recipe but it is MIA......When in doubt, a guessipe will work. Stay tuned for that one! Way to go greekgirrrl & laurieg! Glad you all have become BFF"s.

I do not believe in discriminating against any cookie! I like them all but would have to say one of my favorites would be a Raspberry Thumbprint cookie.

I know this sounds familiar but my favorite is a rum or bourbon ball cookie...I used to make them every year, but here in the 'village' no one drinks! Also like gingerbread and shortbread cookies...heck, I guess I like them all! My favorite all-time cookie is a chewy brownie.

Favorite cookie is really hard to pinpoint just one....but ginger snap is close to the top, followed by kitchen sink chewies (everything but the kitchen sink in them, oatmeal, peanut butter, m&m's, reese's pieces, coconut, pecans, as big as a coffee saucer and used as a sandwich cookie with ice cream) Those are the ones I nearly burned down my house making them. Rum balls are good because my mom made them every year, cream cheese roll-ups from my Polish grandma. So hard to choose.

Yep - I guess we all have our favorites. And yet there isn't a favorite! Just bring on the cookies! Like cookie monster sings..........'C is for cookie, that's good enough for me'
These are great memories. Thank you everyone for your input.
    Happy baking!!
