Bacon and Bleu Cheese Burger

I've been trying for the past three days to load pictures onto GR (even teeny ones) but I'm having no success so apologies for no picture. And it's a shame, as the burger picture does look yummy!
    I tried this recipe
    Bacon And Bleu Cheese Burger
out the other night as I am new to Bleu cheese and am just starting to experiment.
I added an egg and some bread crumbs to the hamburg mixture as I find they just don't hold together on the grill if I don't.
I'd never wrapped bacon around a burger patty before and I was concerned the strips would just start pulling off once I started cooking them, but they didn't and they sure looked nice (and tasted great!). I honestly couldn't really tell there was onion soup mix in the burger but both my husband and I felt the bleu cheese in the middle was just too overpowering. And word of warning, watch when you take that first bite as hot cheese spurts out like wild fire! :)
I'm pleased I gave this a try but I won't make it again just because we found the cheese too strong in this recipe. A fun endeavour though and I'm sure someone who really loves bleu cheese would love this recipe.

"One Package" descriptor is kind of nebulous. I'm sure size varies. Bleu cheese is too overpowering for me even in small quantities so I wouldn't have made it. Nonetheless is it possible you put too much in the burger?

I went pretty skimpy on the bleu cheese truly and certainly didn't put in a whole pkg. I had the crumbled stuff and I probably put about a good tbsp. on each patty.

We'll leave it to bleu cheese lovers.

I'm okay with bleu cheese in tiny doses, and only with other strong flavors...
Wish I could see that picture, interested in how yummy the bacon looks wrapped around it! Did the bacon get crispy?
I had trouble loading my photo for the green chili sauce, took me two days! Site trouble I guess...

I'm not a bleu cheese fan but I sure do like the idea of bacon wrapped around a burger. My mom always puts onion soup mix in her burgers so I guess one could leave the bleu cheese out if you just want a bacon wrapped burger. Which sounds great to me! :)

I'll keep trying with the picture ML2C. The bacon looks pretty cool around the burger patty and ya, it got fairly crispy.....not hard,hard,hard...but not limp either by any means! :) I think you're right Frankieanne....I would most likely enjoy the recipe more if I just skipped the bleu cheese and went with the rest of it.

THERE.... I got the picture in on that recipe page. It's not the best pic of the bacon wrapped around, but.....trust me....two slices wrapped very nicely around each patty and held together super well on the BBQ. :) (And tasted good in the tummy)

Wow, that looks fantastic! I should try these without the cheese. Or wrap bacon around these
    Bacon Gouda Patties
    :-D

I like blue cheese and I'd be willing to give this a go, But I think putting any cheese in the middle would be acceptable, the smoked gouda, or even cheddar. There is that restaurant that calls their burger the "juicy lucy" because and they stuff with plain American cheese. And yes, the center is like molten lava.
