Combined two recipes

    VELVEETA ALERT, VELVEETA ALERT:
Chili Con Queso by Pleclare and
Black Beans And Rice by Craftyazgirl.
Doubled the Con Queso recipe and upped the cow to 2 lbs.
Was true to the beans and rice recipe 'cept I added salt pork and the uncooked rice to the beans and simmered to pick up all the extra liquid.
Mixed both recipes and made burritos.
Both recipes were good recipes. Had to simmer the black beans for an hour extra for softness.
Burritos in my household for a while!
Added link backs to both recipes. They are both already in the reviews profile.

I like that you used these 2 for burritos! Good idea! Dry beans to me always seem to vary in cooking time for me, especially black beans. One day it could take 2 hrs to cook and the next time it could take 4. I think it has to do with how old they are maybe??? It seems like the beans I have longer take longer to cook. Freezing burritos is something I do a lot around here....

I'm not big on Velveeta but I do like the looks of that beans and rice one! They both do sound like they would be great for burritos.
I just noticed when I was cleaning a cupboard this last weekend that beans now have a "best by" date on them. I never noticed that before so I think the age may have something to do with how they cook.

Something drew me to GR today. It must have been the Velveeta Alert. Loves me Velveeta and that's an easy recipe too. Good idea combining the two although black beans are not very welcome in this house.
