Frankie's Cast Iron Skillet Pizza

    Ever since a work meeting where pizza was mentioned, I have been craving it. I made a zucchini pizza the other night, but it didnt fill the craving. This did. It is also the 1st time I have ever mafe a pizza. I rarely pat myself on the back, but I was pretty proud of myself. I made the dough in my bread machine. I dont have a rolling pin, so I used a tip that I learned off some cooking show I watched a couple of months ago trying to see DT compete in cooking. I never saw her, tho ) I used a beer bottle. I think the dough wanted my beer. It kept sticking to it. I added more and more flour and finally it stopped and began to take shape. It was pretty messy, tho. Flour everywhere. Oh, I didnt have pizza sauce, so I made this Pizza Sauce by Africhtl. This was super easy. I added red pepper flake and simmered for about 10 minutes. Great and simple to make, and I always have the ingredients.

    Now back to the pizza. FA, this was great. Loved it. I followd the recipe to a T. I didnt want to mess anything up. It came out just as you said. Crispy crust and the cheese was nice and chewy. Thanks for my 1st pizza making experience : )

    For a little bit of self aggrandizement try Pizza Dough.
    It is a well flavored crust and fits perfectly as a thin or thick crust, iron skillet or not.

    I'm really glad you tried this, MrP. Now that I've made pizza in a cast iron skillet, that's the only way I will do it. The crust gets nice and crispy. I like the looks of that sauce, though, although I'm such a pizza fanatic I always have a jar in the cupboard. Always. :)
    I love the picture. A pizza isn't pizza without onions, in my house. :)

    Thanks, everyone. I already picked up more motz, tomato sauce, and pepperoni. Wish they made a bigger CI skillet than 12", cuz thats a small pizza. But thats OK. I'll just have to make it more often : )

    Points, you're still trying to get me to make dough by hand.......will that recipe work in a bread machine?

Although...I see myself using the envelope of white lily pizza crust mix. lol We like it...so...no...I don't feel guilty. lol :) Awesome pizza recipe...I really will give it a whirl. Love anything else in the iron skillet..why not pizza??? :)
