Frybread Tacos

    Made Marie's
    Frybread Tacos/saved#
this evening. It was a lot of fun. It's always nice when you try something out and enjoy making the dish. The dough actually made me think of pizza dough and you make the rounds similarly as well. I followed Marie's instructions to a T and they were bang on. Used just a dribble more water to make the dough mixture come together. I used all the toppings she recommended in addition to some chopped white onion. My hubby doesn't care for hard shell tacos so he really enjoyed these. I was worried initially that they would crack when folded in half but they don't. THEY ARE SOOOOO FILLING! My Mom and I could only eat one each tops but Hubby managed a second. :) A bow to Marie's recipe. :)
The frybread was new for me and made me wonder what other recipes one could incorporate it with. My Mom lives in a town that fishes for Walleye and we thought that this frybread would make an amazing Walleye sandwich with some shredded lettuce and mayo. Thanks so much for posting this cool recipe Marie.

Oh, gosh, that looks good! One of the (many) things I have yet to make is frybread. It looks like it puffs up, huh? That's so cool! What a wonderful picture!

Janet, I am so very pleased everyone enjoyed the Frybread Tacos! They are very filling, aren't they:) You can also top these with honey for a sweet treat, but I love the Walleye sandwich idea you & your Mom thought of! Or maybe a fish taco would be good...Anyway, I appreciate you adding the beautiful picture to my recipe..thanks again for giving these a try!!!

Those look great! I would use all the toppings too! I bet avocado would be good on this too...

Yes Frankieanne....when I rolled out the dough balls into rounds it really made me think of pizza dough but when you slide it into the oil, they certainly do puff up. My picture is actually too dark but thank you. :)
Sooooo filling Marie! In Ottawa there are food kiosks that sell a dessert item called "Beavertails". I probably told you about them before. And they use a dough, but it is a bit more doughnut like and softer than the fry bread and they just fry it up and then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar with lemon, or ice it with chocolate or all manner of toppings. It's especially popular in winter time down on the Rideau Canal where people go skating. Warms you up from the inside. :)

Ya...I was thinking avocado too ML2C! Just finished up the leftovers for lunch. Yum! :)

The bread was so easy to make and I love how it puffed up so nicely! I wasn't starving so I used half of one of the frybreads and it was the perfect amount. Wish I'd had avocado to go on this, but I didn't. Served with sour cream on the side. I froze 3 of these for later use...Very good Marie!! Added my photo :)

Fry bread takes me back to my childhood vacations on the Indian Reservations. Have had Navajo Tacos but fry bread is so good when it’s warm, just plain. Funny about the fish suggestion as I just watched an episode of Primal Grill today where he grilled the dough and made a fish sandwich with it. I've been dreaming of going to Canada to get BeaverTails ever since they were first mentioned.
