Hasselback Potatoes With Parmesan And Roasted Garlic
Well, mine surely didn't end up looking like the picture! I did only use two potatoes. I don't know if that was the problem or not. My garlic also burned a bit instead of roasting. Tasty though. I wish I had time to bake these longer uncovered but my burger was done and I was hungry.

I also saved this when it was posted. Usually Hasselback Potatoes aren't sliced all the way through, which to me was a pain to get anything between the slices. Did you cut yours all the as it appears this recipe calls for?

Yeah, I agree, they would probably get a little more crispy if uncovered longer..they sure look good though!

Thanks, LB. I thought I was going crazy as I did recall that the potatoes weren't supposed to be cut all the way through as these were. I did cut them all the way through. I do think they need to be uncovered longer to get crispy. Unless me cutting the recipe messed that up.

How in the heck did you get them to stand up like that if they are cut all the way through!? Magic? :) :)

They were just pushed up against each other in the pan.

that looks just like what I would do, here is an idea cook longer, maybe a little cooking spray or olive oil on top.
may fry potatoes in a deep fat fryer till brown and then put in pan to finish , if you want the potatoes faster.
Maybe turn the potatoes over because they look like they were browning on the bottom, in the pan. also try the oven broiler, but be careful they could burn. Hope this helps. Those do look good.
thinner is good, but I like mine thick as well. Maybe your stove temp is off? A convection oven works great with this. You potatoes could have steamed, but always try to keep them above the rim of the pan for turning nice brown. There is many ways to correct this problem, ok I will take a look at your pic and see what I can do. Hope this helps.

I think I would either bake them on a cookie sheet til brown then put in the pan, or slice them cook in a deep fat fryer till desired color of brown , then add them to the pan with seasonings.
Or cook them in a covection oven with the fan on, of course things do cook faster in a convection, this is the type stove that has a fan inside to blow the heat all around the oven, it is great for bread or anything you need a nice brown on , pretty fast.
I still like turn the potatoes over and letting the top brown in the pan also.

Yeah, I'm not certain what happened. I don't want you to think I was complaining though. They definitely were edible. They just did not look like the picture at all. But I do notice that the potatoes in the picture are pretty much laying down - they aren't really vertical. And they are below the rim of the pan. They aren't standing up like mine were. Maybe laying them down would work better as more surface of potato hits the pan. Maybe 425F would be better as well for truly crispy. I don't know.

These were very yummy! I cut my potatoes very thin and covered for the first 30 minutes then uncovered the rest of the time, hoping to get that crispy potato. My guess is to not cover at all, because only a couple of the slices got crispy, but the flavor of these are awesome!! I too cut the recipe, to just 4 potatoes, my fridge is too full for leftovers right now lol! Posted my pic.

Your picture looks good! Yep - I think these things need to be uncovered and laid down - like yours and the one in the picture posted. The instructions say to keep the potatoes vertical, which is what I did. The potatoes in the picture that is posted are not vertical, in my opinion. But, the flavor is good.

Yeah I am thinking the best way to bake this is to put in the oven with the potatoes laying down with everything but the garlic for 30 minutes...then add the garlic and bake 30 minutes, then add the parmesan, bake 15-20 minutes. Uncovered the whole time.
