My Less Fattening Shrimp Alfredo

Recipe by Justjakesmom: My Less Fattening Shrimp Alfredo
A very nice tasting Alfredo even though it's less-fattening.
I used a full package, 16oz, of Angelhair pasta, due to my aversion of leaving partially opened containers out. Think I'm glad I did, because there was enough Alfredo sauce for the full pound.
No pic. It's exactly like the authors, 'cept double the pasta.

Has the reviews icon but no link to the IMI group, until now.

MMmmm...I haven't had an alfredo in a while and never had one with shrimp, only chicken. Sounds so good!

I've never had alfredo with anything but the pasta and sauce, but chicken and shrimp sound like good add-ins!

I am not familiar with Alfredo sauces at all (I don't eat white sauces) but is this really less fattening? A block of cream cheese? I guess I need to check out a real Alfredo.

OK, I just noticed - light cream cheese. I guess that must be it. :)

I've seen some made with both heavy cream or milk AND cream cheese and some with just cream cheese only or heavy cream only. Either way, I think this one is lighter, especially not paired with the cream or milk? Not sure, just my opinion :)

Oh that looks so good. I agree with you Mommylvus2cook with the use of the light cream cheese and broth instead of milk or cream would make it lighter.

Reading this reminded me that I had not posted my Fettuccini Alfredo recipe, so here it is: Fettuccini Alfredo

I like your recipe Bakerme..it reminds me of the original Alfredo recipe except you add a little milk to yours:) http://memoriediangelina.com/2013/05/19/fettuccine-alfredo/#.VuAtxaT2bIV I have made this recipe and it's so basic but so good. I have never used cream cheese in Alfredo, but I guess it would make the sauce quite a bit creamier... There are so many Alfredo recipes out there, so guess we need to try them all:-D

Thanks for checking it out, Marie. I forgot to say that since my husband developed a lactose intolerance several years ago, we make it with Lactaid lactose-free milk and it works just fine.

I saved the recipe you posted and will try it to see how the two compare. We like something like that for a quick dinner when we're not really in the mood to cook.
