I'll have to try this...I just bought some stuff that says its saffron, but I'm not totally sure because it only cost $2 for a large pouch full! I got it at an Oriental grocery store. Its actually called Saffron Flower, then it says (Kasubha)...so I'm curious to try it in rice!

The color is beautiful! Great pic!
    Thanks for showing us!

I'm not sure about your saffron either, Lillian. My package says "Saffron 100% pure" on it and it only weighs one gram, but I don't know how much it cost. It was a gift from my mother. Let me know how your rice turns out! I'm glad you liked the picture. :)

Doesn't seem like enough liquid to cook the rice, not even for the 1-2-3 rule. Was the rice still on the difficult to chew side or crunchy?

Thanks for helping link recipes when you find one that needs "linking" Clandestine! Every once in a while I stumble across one as well!

Oh, heavens, pso. I can't remember something from four years ago! Heck, I forgot my second husband's name last week. Thankfully. Prayer does work.
Seriously - I think if it hadn't been soft, I wouldn't have rated it five stars. Also, if I remember right, that water/rice ratio is correct for a rice cooker. I don't have my rice cooker anymore to check though. It met the fate of other short small appliance fascinations and was given away. I'm hoping my love affair with my new waffle maker lasts longer.

Ditto the thanks Clandestine, every link helps. Let us know if you make it and maybe you can help PSO with his question. My question PSO is what is the 1-2-3 Rule? It's ringing a bell but I just can't make my brain bring it to the front.

    Okay, I THINK it's 1 cup rice + 2 cups water = 3 cups cooked rice? I know I'm close...

Maybe that's right for a rice cooker. I don't know. Never owned one. A stove top simmer is 1c rice + 2c water = 3c cooked rice. ML2C got it right. But I prefer 1+3=3@30min.
I was thinking water adsorption = water adsorption no matter the cooking process.

I have never owned a rice cooker as well points. The directions on long grain is 1 cup rice to double water...but I ALWAYS need to add more water. I end up doing 1 cup rice to about 2 1/2 - 3 cups water.

I hear that rice cookers are popular in dorms. Not just for cooking rice, as they measure the temperature rather than just a timed cook. That way they shut off when the item is done/reaches a certain temperature so no burnt food or maybe fires if the student dosen't get back in time. I've thought about looking into one but...
