Slow Cooker Tamale Pie

A wonderful recipe from Pleclare Slow Cooker Tamale Pie/saved

I am always on the lookout for good crock pot recipes and have found another one! This was easy and delicious..I used ground turkey and added some whole black olives on top of the meat mixture before adding the corn bread mixture..a nice addition:) Lots of flavor! This didn't take 5 hours, more like 31/2 to 4 maybe because I used my BIG crockpot? Next time I'll use the smaller one!
    Thank you Pat xoxox

Let us know how you like it Frankieanne:) Are u going to add some olives? I was also thinking corn would be good in this as well..don't really want to change Pat's recipe at all..but anytime I can add more vegetables..I do:)

That's too strange, Marie. I was thinking of adding corn! :) No olives. I'm weird. I like cold olives but not hot olives. Go figure. :-P

Good. Lots of flavor. Only weird quirk is someone bought a banana cornbread mix instead of straight up cornbread. Gave it a sweet and banana flavor that I don't really think is supposed to go with a tamale pie. Made a pic. The brown coloration of the topping is because of the banana surprise.
Doubled up on all except for the topping. It has the same surface area so I didn't see the need to double the topping.
Made this with Enchilada Sauce for a penny saver.

I'm not endorsing the banana flavor. It seems an unnatural flavor mix with the beef and beans.

This was so good and I will enjoy the leftovers. I loved the moist cornbread. I went back for seconds and ate more than I should. I did add a small can of corn and I really liked that. Used a liner for easy clean-up of the cooker, too.
