Sparow64's Salmon Patties

    I made Lori's
    Moms Salmon Patties
for dinner this evening. I'm a big fan of canned salmon. I usually just make a grilled or toasted sandwich out of it, but decided to change things up a little and try the patties. Easy, peasy and yummy. I halved the recipe. It made three nice sized patties. Must admit it was the first time I ever bought Crisco shortening or Saltine crackers. :)
Lori suggests using her Mom's homemade tartar sauce
Beer Battered Fish Fry With Homemade Tartar Sauce
which I did as well. It ROCKS! Will buy more fish just to make the sauce more often. :) Again, super easy, super fun and super yummy. Thanks Lori, and thanks to your Mom, for a new quick tasty dinner recipe. :)

Those look good and easy. And I like the looks of that fish, too! Did you take the bones out of the salmon? One time I made a recipe using canned salmon and the instructions said to remove the bones. I remember while I was doing that thinking it was such a pain and it steered me away from using canned salmon again.

There's no way I'd fiddle around taking the bones out of a can of salmon. :) I'm a carnivore at heart. They're soft. More fiber right? LOL. Lori talks about that in the recipe. she says she has to take them out. To each their own. :)

Never had canned salmon but I had no idea it still had the skin and bones on it!! I figured it would come just like tuna. That tartar sauce sounds delicious!!!

So glad you enjoyed the salmon patties and the tartar sauce, Janet! Thanks for the nice review. When I was growing up Mom made that sauce with fish sticks, or any time we had fish of any kind. I was amazed to learn that my friend's moms didn't make tartar sauce, LOL I have never been able to eat restaurant or bottled tartar sauce. Love your picture. My dinosaur phone didn't do justice to the golden brown color of the patties.

Frankieanne...to each his own on the bones. My mom leaves them in, I take them out. :)

I think I used to take the skin off because it darkened the mix. Meh... now skin bones and all the yumminess goes straight in. The cat waits at my feet for his share which is a big bowl of the salmon water after draining.

I made this tonight..we love these salmon patties! I made half the recipe which made 5 good sized patties..so very flavorful. I also made the tarter sauce to go with the patties...absolutely delish:-) I have never made tarter sauce using dill pickle relish (I actually used some chopped dill pickle with a little juice) so much better than sweet pickle relish by far! Loved the addition of fresh lemon juice..really brightened the flavor..Thank you Lori for sharing your Mom's Salmon Patties recipe..I'll be making this often!
Added my picture to the recipe as well:)

Wow good job Marie, looks great! Bookmarked this one for sure :) I agree with what Lori said a year ago about the tartar sauce and not eating it bottled. I find it way to easy to make (as well as cocktail sauce) and I think it taste SO much better!

I also have a huge bag of white fish my dad gave me (forget what it's called but I've never heard of it before) that he said is good for frying. I saved Lori's beer battered fish recipe to use those up with too :) That officially makes my millionth bookmark lol!
