    Sweet Cornbread
This was so delicious! I made it in a square pan and it came out perfectly after 25 minutes. I was going to eat this with some leftover beans from yesterday (also posted here) but I ate so much cornbread there was no room for beans! This gave me a chance to use my powdered buttermilk and baking powder - which all of us here now know that both expire! :D Added my picture as well. Thanks, pso!

LOVE cornbread, and that looks great. I havent made any for a few months either. I will have to try this one......If I can find powdered buttermilk. Last time I purchase liquid, I never used it again after the cup I needed. That "expired" rather quickly. 10 days goes by pretty fast. My baking powder expired in Nov 2010. Still smells powdery tho : )

I use buttermilk all the time :) But, the powdered stuff should be with the baking supplies, MP.... near the dry milk powder, or the other powders like baking powder near like the baking chips, etc ....

Looks good, Frankie... nice pic :)

Thanks, Keni! It was reeally good! I'm still full. :)
Keni is right, Mr. P. I found powdered buttermilk right near the yeast and baking powder. I was surprised to find it in my rather tiny town, but I did! I have used regular buttermilk but I found I always threw so much of it away. This seemed like a good alternative. I've used it three times now with great results.

You all are lucky souls that find powdered buttermilk in your market. I have to go to a health food store to find any. They aren't the cheapest place on the planet but are cheaper than paying a shipping charge from a specialty store over the 'net. Use it all the time in my cornbread and pancakes and other baking. If I use fresh buttermilk, I will make my own a gallon at a time. Think I have a recipe posted for it. That gallon won't last long. I keep hitting it every time I pass the fridge.

Points, you mean you drink that stuff? I think I did that ONCE. That was enough. I thought about trying to drink some of what I had so it wouldnt go to waste, but I just couldnt.

Thanks, Frankie and Keni. I will look for the powdered stuff. There have been recipes that I wanted to try that calls for buttermilk but I passed due to not wanting to pick up a qt and wasting the rest

It's crazy! Couldn't stand the stuff when young. Can't get enough of it now. And I like CILANTRO too!

What a combo. Cilantro and buttermilk. Now you'll tell me that you like that poured over liver. I have tried cilantro several different times. Same with liver. I dont think I will ever develop a liking for either. Although I dont mind liverwurst spread THINLY on something. Cant figure that one

Did you use powdered buttermilk or the real thing? Yours came out beautifully. Love the pictures.

I had never had Sweet Cornbread before and this was great! Sweet moist and could go with savory things too. It came out perfectly in 25 minutes. I will definitely be making this again. A nice pleasant change. Thanks for the super recipe Points!
