    Upgrade Your Boring Breakfast
This didn't work for me. The egg did not get done. Look in the upper left. Clear egg white. Not gonna rate it. More pictures on the recipe.
I think if one if going to try to cook eggs in the oven, room temperature eggs would be best. Not something stone cold from the refrigerator. I may try this again tomorrow and do that. I have one slice of ham left.

You know what, I bet your right on the egg being room temp. I never would have thought of that, and I'm probably going to try that the next time I make something involving baking an egg. That could be the solution to my baking egg problem!! Well the egg looked perfect before you cracked it open! Did you bake it longer after the pic?

Has anyone tried preparing an egg this way? Egg In A Hole I would think the egg would cook better covered...

No, I didn't bake it any longer. Nibbled on the edges but the uncooked egg white was very off-putting. I couldn't stand looking at it!
I have made those egg in a hole things before. The eggs get done in a pan on the stovetop!

Wow Marie, the image of that just popped into my head and I really did laugh out loud! What a great, but funny idea! Wonder if that could be done in the waffle iron :P

That is a very fun looking recipe. I've never had any luck baking eggs in the oven myself. Keni used to do it. Lovin' the egg in a pancake idea. Go with it girls. :)

I tried making the Egg in a Hole and it was awful! I let the first side of the bread cook until it was lightly toasted, flipped it, added the extra butter in the hole, then the egg. Trying to get the second side of the bread toasted enough that it even looked cooked made the egg too overdone. That's the second recipe like that I tried and, if there's a trick to it, I sure don't know it. I won't try making eggs like that again.

I make egg in a whole all the time and it's perfect everytime. The egg white cooks perfectly but the yolk is still runny. For me the secret is to do it in a frying pan, not overly heated and to put the egg in the whole right after you place the bread slice in the pan.

Mine always turn out great too Ana!! Bakerme maybe try toasting the bread about a minute on both sides and then adding the egg. That may help to get your bread done quicker than the egg :) :) When it's done right, it's SO GOOD!

I can't get this recipe to work as written. More on the recipe. Sorry for the blurry pictures.
Its a lot of food. Too much for me. I'm stuffed.

Maybe there is too much insulation (read bread here) around the egg to get the white done at the temp and time. If one would reduce the temp, the time at bake could be increased, letting everything warm up longer.
Try dropping the temp to 300F. And here's another idea. Use the convection setting on your oven to get the heat circulating all around so the egg doesn't have to bake from the bottom up.

Your a trooper for trying this one again! What about a room temp egg and tenting the whole thing with foil? At least you got it done in the microwave, so that you didn't have to eat around the whites again!

Yeah, I did the room temp egg, ml2c. I skipped the tenting. Went straight to the microwave. By that time, I was sick and tired of this recipe.
I don't have a convection oven, pso. Someone else will have to try that. I'm done with this one! :)
