Wanted-your favorite non-breadmachine yeast bread, pizza dough, or other great recipe for those of us who, through choice or necessity, knead our dough without benefit of a breadmaker.

I joined because I would love to learn how to knead my own dough etc. I always pass over any baking because I'm not good at it. So this gives me an opportunity to try recipes while I have the creator of said recipe available to ask for help. :)

I can no longer make bread that you knead, being gluten free you basically pour our bread dough... it has the consistency of cake batter... which is very disturbing..

but I do have a wonderful collection of real bread recipes from the 'old days' when i could eat wheat...

Peetabear-we would love your recipes. I'm sorry you've had to go gluten-free but at least you've been diagnosed and have a solution. I also belong to Allrecipes and see the frustration of those who want to make bread but either don't have a breadmaker or prefer to do it without one. Most of my recipes aren't particularly specific, unfortunately. Any help you can give the rest of us is appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, everyone I love making bread from scratch ever since I was taught by my Dad when I was 9 years old. As time went on I worked to prefect my skills in making bread. finally in 2006 I went to the San Francisco Baking Institute ware I learned to make great breads like I the baguette I have posted. I hope to learn even more as we share together in this wonderful group.

I also love making bread from scratch, and I have a bread machine. I'm not as experienced as Trigger, but I recently took a class at the Laguna Culinary Institute and learned a lot! I'll post some of the recipes I got from that class over the weekend. This is a great idea Elle!

When I was serving in the Israeli army, I was stationed in the Sinai desert.. Quite near our camp there was a small bedouin village. I became very friendly with them, (needless to say ,against army regulations), and I learned many things from them. One of these things was how to bake a bedouin pita. I will share it with the group.

Oops! My finger slipped onto the carriage return line feed key before I put in the smiley face.

Everyone take some time soon and make my cinnamon rolls, posted here. It is a wonderful recipe that should be tried at least once if only once. It will make your stomach grin from kidney to kidney. Please no talking while eating, your stomach is hungry.

Hello everyone. Making bread is a love of mine. I find that kneading bread removes stress and anxieties. And if you spend a lot of time on the computer, it makes your hands limber by working out the muscles. I sometimes use the bread hook attachment on my KitchenAid, but I know that is cheating. but if I am doing a lot of baking that is the only way. Unless you are really stressed out, of course.
