Finally Friday!

  • NPMarie 8 years ago
Just wanted to get our Friday thread started so this will be quick since I'm right in the middle of doing a few things:)

Janet, I'm sure there are quite a few good e-card sites, I use http://www.care2.com/send/catoldsantas1.html. It's free of charge and if you look, you can find some nice cards:)
To answer your question about snow on Thanksgiving..I adore when it snows, but am a bit hesitant having it happen on Thanksgiving Eve since my family will be coming up that day..and it's a busy travel day..the other thing is most of the people living here don not know how to drive when it snows and there are spinouts galore and wrecks..we have to cross a bridge over Paradise Lake and there is always someone blocking traffic with a spinout etc!
So sorry to hear about your Mom's friend....

Hi Joce:) I'm interested in your e-card site as well:)

Hi everyone! I'll have to check back in a bit:)

I just wanted to pop in and say hi! I haven't read back in the thread posts, so I hope everyone is well! :)
I haven't felt like popping on the computer that much this week---the kids must have had that parvovirus again and not the flu because my joints ached so bad for a few days, with severe headaches. Pete had the same thing so I knew then that it must have been what the kids had. Adults rarely get the cold symptoms, just the joint aches. ugh. It's over with now thank goodness!
It's been bitterly cold, -20 this morning. We had a little bit of snow, but nothing really stuck. It's going to warm up this weekend, and then maybe snow next week. My son's 14th birthday is next weekend! Oh my, how time fly's!
I'm suppose to go to the store today, but not sure if I want to drive to town in this frozen tundra! I have some frozen perogies and such if I don't make it out. ;)
Have a great day everyone!!!! :)

Also just popping in really quick! Hi Marie, busy busy :)

Glad your feeling better Shona, hope your able to make it to the store!

Since I ate lunch with Caiden yesterday, Bri talked us into eating with her today. Michael's working M-T right now for a few weeks so he is off today and able to come :) Afterwards will be the bank and then the grocery store to pick up some things for Thanksgiving at my Mom's this Sunday, we are celebrating a few days early since we will be going out of town on Thanksgiving to Michael's Aunt's house. Dinner tonight is leftovers. Girl Scout meeting tonight as well, wishing everyone a great day!!

Hi guys! My girlfriends just left. We had a lovely lunch. They loved the Chicken Parm and one of them brought a Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake for dessert as well which was awesome. The funeral went as well as a funeral can. :(
Thanks for the card link Marie. I'll totally check that out. Ya, I figured it was driving conditions you were most worried about alright.
Hi Shona! Good to see you. Sorry to hear you guys were sick. Ai yi yi on -20C already. Wow! What kind of celebrations are you going to do for your son's birthday?
Hi Michelle! That's fun that you ate lunch with Bri today. Hope you made out well with all your errands. Does Michael's Aunt live aways away? Will have stay over?
    I've got
    Beef Dip
in the crockpot for dinner this evening. Should make up a veggie tray on the side although I do have mushrooms and stuffed mushrooms for appys might be even better. :)
Nice to see you pop in last night Laurie. Ugh at the drama at work. That's certainly one of the things I miss least about retail! :) Oh dear on Rachel getting in her first altercation. Glad neither car had damage. How did Frank handle it?
Woke up at 5:30 again this morning. Argh.
Saturday tomorrow already! How did that happen?

    Hi Michelle, Janet, Marie, Shona.

Also just stopping by for a sec. I thought I had posted this morning - but no posts here so guess I didn't! Ah well. Wayne is in the Gazebo waiting for another deer to show. I may go join him just to keep him company. The winds are high and it is in the low 50s. Rain is due tonight. Maybe a touch of snow in with it but they keep changing their minds.

We are going to a "viewing" Monday. The daughter of one of the former firefighters died of leukemia. She was 12 years old. She had a lot of other health issues which complicated things, also. The funeral is Tuesday but we have to be elsewhere. There is a benefit dinner / auction Saturday afternoon - not sure if we can make that or not.

We went to Bow and Barrel and zeroed our rifles. I need TONS of practice....sigh! Not the best shot in the world.

We are having venison meatloaf for supper - I have no idea how to make it so will have to concoct as I go. Probably greens beans and maybe a potato. I skipped breakfast and had a Hardee's "natural burger" minus tomato for lunch. Shame on me. Ha ha.

That is about it. Best go see if Wayne is getting too bored.

Janet, Michael's Aunt lives in New Braunfel's, about 3 1/2 hours away, so we will get there on Thurs. and leave on Sat. The whole family will be there so I'm looking forward to it, but it's also sad because it's probably going to be the last time we see his Papa. He's fading fast and we are hoping he can hold on until then. Beef Dip sounds SO good right now, I need to make that again!

Karen, that is sad about the firefighters daughter, so young :( Venison meatloaf sounds great, let us know how it turns out :)

Lunch went well, we picked up Schloztky's and I had an Italian chopped salad that was so good, but they had put the dressing ON the salad, and by the time we got to Bri's school it was soggy :( I didn't think I'd need to tell them dressing on the side for a to-go salad, but I guess so! Stopped at home depot as well to price some wood and paint to make a Christmas bean bag toss game that the Girl Scouts will be using at the leaders and Michael's work party (they both work at Marathon) we got partnered up with another girl to make it and all the other girls are paired up and making their own thing. We will be selling tickets and the kids can play the games. Gotta raise that money for Costa Rica!! Okay off to eat and get ready to go, have a good night!!

    What a day..that being said..hi again:)

Shona, hope you all are feeling better...I don't see how anyone can handle -20..I guess you get used to it? Holy Moley! That's cold:) Hope you are having a nice cozy inside day:)

Michelle, sounds like you have a very nice Thanksgiving planned:) Hope Papa has the best Thanksgiving ever.

Janet, oh good! Glad you sent yourself one:) They have some beautiful e-cards, and quite a few corny ones as well, but usually the Christmas cards are pretty nice:)
I'm sure everyone loved your Chicken Parm..it's one of my favs:)

Karen, oh dear on the firefighters young daughter..life can be so unfair at times...so sad...
That's funny you thought you had already posted this morning..welcome to my world:) I do that all of the time:) UGH on the high winds!

Some sort of chicken and asparagus for dinner along with a salad.....

    Good evening everyone.
Lol, Marie. We get tons of snow and some people here still don't know how to drive in it. The first few snowy days are the worst, until we all relearn.
Oh Shona, it's way too early to have those low temps. Happy that your feeling better.
Michelle, Girl Scouts? Is that something new? We have Girl Guides and Boy Scouts although girls can join Boy Scouts.
Janet, I recently saved that recipe, looks good. I've thought about all the recipes that I want to make and have decided that I will probably have to live to a ripe old age to get to all of them. So sorry about the funeral.
Yuck, on the wake up time.
Oh, Karen. I'm so sorry. That's way too young.
Your meatloaf sounds good. I can get farm raised venison here but it's 12.99 a pound.
Marie, I love asparagus but it seldom goes below 4.99 a pound here. I have a recipe for asparagus with seeds that I really love.
Dinner was bone in seasoned chicken breasts that Joe picked up at Costco. I served that with a veggie stir fry and Manella's oven fries. They were excellent.

Hi Bren, I sure loved your IMI review of the Oven Fries..I can't get over how crispy they looked..what a great recipe indeed! We haven't has asparagus in AGES because of the price! The last time I was at the grocery store they had it for $2.88 lb..not that great of a deal but far better than $4 to $5 a lb! The asparagus recipe with seeds sounds good!!!
LOL, I WAS a Girl Scout Bren! About ...gulp...45 to 50 years ago..oh man, I am really getting up there:( Now I'm depressed:-D LOL
GS Cookies were 50 cents a box...we'll have to ask Michelle how much they are these days..I still adore GS Cookies, brings back such fond memories of eating & selling them..door to door:) Good times..such fun we had..camping etc:)

Wayne got a small doe, with the gun he zeroed today, so we field dressed it and hung it in the garage to age. It is cold enough that it will stay. Tomorrow we are expecting rain, so no hunting. That means no meatloaf tonight--yippee for Schwans! If we had a Schlotzkis or any other chain closer than 30 miles we would definitely eat out tonight.

Watching weather channel -- Wayne,s sister lives near Rockford Illinois and says they are expecting seven inches of snow. Have a good evening -- see you later.

Hi Marie, Thanks, I've been making Manella's recipes for a few years now and trust her judgement.
I hope that I don't bore everyone with prices, for some reason the cost of things in different areas really interests me.
Oh boy, Guide cookies. When we sold them they were about 1.50. I paid 5.00 a box a few weeks ago.

I'm happy that Wayne got a doe, Karen, but so much work for you. You'll eat well this winter though. Wow, that's a lot of snow.

Bren I looked up Girl Guides and they seem to be in Canada and certain other parts of the world...New Zealand, UK, Australia, etc. I think I first heard about Girl Guides from Janet? Anyway it's all Girl Scouts in the U.S. though I think :) I'll have to go check out the oven fries in the IMI!

Lol Marie, $4.50 a box :) They were $4.00 up unil 3 years ago.

Wow, I couldn't imagine not having a restaurant closer than 30 miles Karen! Although we mostly eat at home, I appreciate having something quick close by, especially when we have super busy nights. We are expecting rain early AM, I hope it stays away so Caiden's last game won't be rained out tomorrow!
