Snowy (yesterday) Saturday!

Morning everyone! It snowed yesterday!! The first time in 9 years! So it was Caiden's first time seeing snow and Briauna's second. The kids LOVED it, it was so neat driving Caiden to school and everything being snow covered :)

I started making cookies yesterday morning and got them in the dough in the fridge like I was supposed to then I never got back to them lol. I ran to Sam's, came home and started wrapping Christmas gifts then all the sudden it was time for the kids to come home and start dinner! I'm hoping the dough is still okay and I will finish them up this morning.

Caiden has a basketball game at noon then we are headed over to Conroe (about 1 1/2 hours away) for Briauna to play in a tournament with a team that was short girls and needed a pitcher. I almost told them that we couldn't do it, just because of how far it is, but she really wanted to do it. I'm hoping it doesn't go until too late tonight and that we don't have to be there too early tomorrow morning. One will happen though I'm sure!

So Michael will have to figure out dinner for himself when he get's home from work I guess. Sorry Michael! I may pull out some boudin for him to just throw in the oven and he can saute up some veggies if he wants any, probably not though haha! Have a great day everyone!!

Oh and I can't get my photos to upload from my phone from yesterday's snow :(

Good Morning Michelle! That's hilarious about the snow. Freaky to me to think that people have never or rarely seen it. :) I'm sure your cookie dough will be fine in fact the flavours will have had a chance to meld and they'll probably even be tastier. What kind are you making? I googled Conroe, Texas because I'd never heard of it before. Elvis Presley performed at the High School Football Field there in Aug. 1955. And...the City has a number of parks including one named "Candy Cane Park". LOLOL! How fun is that? Good Luck to Bri at the tournament. Nice that she is pitching to help another team out. Good practice for her too I'd expect.

I have a day of cooking ahead of me which I'm looking forward to. We are having our friends (my girlfriend from the Flower Shop and her hubby) over for dinner this evening. Here's my menu:

    Appetizers:
Cocktail Sausage Rolls (from our local Farmer's Market)

    Entree:
    Lori's ribs
Bryan And Loris Pulled Pork Bbq Or Ribs
    Baked Mashed Potato cakes
    Veggie tray with
    Heinz 57 Dip

    Dessert:
    Ina Garten's Creme Brulee recipe
    Lemon Meltaway Cookies

The Potato recipe I found on Pinterest. You basically make mashed potatoes and add some green onions, cheddar cheese, bacon or ham and then pile it into a 'ring' and pop it out on to a baking sheet and bake it so the outside is crispy and the inside soft and pillowy. I thought it'd go nicely with the ribs. Sort of a deconstructed twice baked potato. I'm making the veggie tray in the shape of a Christmas tree. :)

I was also going to make a Crab dip with crackers as a second appy but then figured it'd be too much food.

    Wishing everyone a fun day!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Woke up around 5:30 a.m. to the gently rolling of thunder, flashes of lighting, and a gently but steady rain. It was pleasant and I was able to fall back asleep ... it was so pleasant that we slept to almost 9:00! It's suppose to be rainy off and on today and then cool crisp temps to follow.
The perfect day to have the oven on so I made some dough for pizza and will make one for lunch.
Going to the gym later then stopping at the grocery store on the way home. Will pick up something for dinner when there so I don't have to thaw something.

That's is too cute Caiden seeing snow for the first time Michelle! Wow on getting snow! I too think your dough will be better after having sat in the fridge. What kind of cookies are you making? Yikes on having to drive 1.5 hours to get to a game. Hope it all works out time wise.

Dinner sounds great Janet! Especially the mashed potato ring and too the sausage rolls. How was the movie from the library?

Ugh at waking up at 5:30 Linda but nice you were lulled back to sleep by the rain. Yum on pizza for lunch. The movie was a bit odd but also fun and entertaining. I wouldn't give it 5 stars or anything but it had a few really good lines. :)

Hi Janet! I made Cinnabun Cookies I'm about to go review them in the IMI :) Your whole menu sound AMaaazing, especially those mashed potato cakes! Enjoy your day with your friends!!

Nice on sleeping in Linda! What recipe do you use for your pizza dough?

Yes the snow was awesome! Caiden and I had a small snowball fight :P Bri has to leave so early for school it was still dark outside so it was hard to get pics./enjoy it for her. Everything was still covered in a thin layer of ice outside this morning, it's FREEZING!!! I bought hand warmers at Walmart today for the tournament. Those things are life savers!

Michelle those cookies are amazing!!! How fun is that? I'm totally going to make those. Thanks for the thumbs up on my menu.

I'm in good stead. Jim gave me a hand and cut up all the veggies for the veggie platter. I've prepped the ribs and I made the potato cakes. They're neat. All I have to do is pop them in the oven. We may even be able to squeeze a quick Hot Tub in after lunch. We're getting tiny Charlie Brown snowflakes coming down which look very festive.

Chatted a bit with Benjamin this morning. He's taking Angel to Xiaoliuqiu Island tomorrow. They're staying over and coming back Monday afternoon. I'm so happy for them. It looks gorgeous. He sent me this link:

    Hello everyone,
I think Janet asked about book club a couple days ago. It’s mostly people from Running and it seems like it’s smaller and smaller. I asked the person who started it about inviting more people but she didn’t seem to keen on it.
I decided on the angel food cake with pineapple. Not sure if it’s on GR but it’s super easy and everyone likes it. I usually top with cool whip which I think is nondairy. I have to look but if it isn’t I won’t top and let everyone just add it on themselves. The store was out of the egg roll wrappers which means I have to go to another. Ugh pain.
Went to BIL house last night. He is leaving for St Croix for a few months on a recovery team. (He is a union electrician).
Just lounging after meeting my friend for coffee and then braving the Crazy Basket for groceries before it snows. It’s snowing now.
A little while ago a motorcade came down my street with Santa and frosty lol. Frank came Running from man cave saying Santa is comin lol me and Becca thought he ,ay be losing his mind. The video is on FB and joy wasn’t happy.

Janet. I did enjoy the book. It’s very gritty it’s about a girl who Alledgedly killed a baby when she was 9 years old and went to prison and is living in a group home. I read it a few months back but it’s one of those books that after you read it you just want to discuss it with someone. So I knew when it was my turn I was picking it. So I am re listening to it on audible. I saw one of the girls from book club last weekend and she was like wow good book! So I think they will like it. I hated the last two books lol

I'll write out the recipe on tomorrow's post Michelle that I've been using for dough, I'm on the iPad and it's easier to do on the desk top. It's from Cooks Illustrated. I like it but I'm always searching for the best.

Hello all. Been a bit missing lately. Have been really busy with work and also the holidays. Big planning for our huge, annual Christmas Fondue Party. Every year I say, not happening at my house next year, but every year...............here we are. No one in the family will seem to take it on so I guess it's with me until I take my last breath, lol. Been a bit on the downer side as Michael will not be here this year for Christmas. Only second time in 9 years. Already missing him as he is my Christmas Eve Elf and always helps me get the packages wrapped and under tree. This year will be a bit sad.
Hope all are doing well. Need to read back a bit.

    Sleep Sweet All......................as always
