Wednesday Winesday or Whinesday

  • notyourmomma 8 years ago
Depends on your priority, I suppose. I appreciate wine when I want to whine. So all is good.

Laurie, tell Rachel a letter in sports her Senior year is golden. The Armed forces always looked favorably on Liv's letter in swimming and diving. Yea for Becca and her new job. I'm super impressed with your 5k run. Brava, my friend and the purpose is so wonderful.

Janet, I find it super cool on the author and face time for conservation. Lively conversation is a highlight of any day. Your upcoming trip to Taiwan is so exciting.

I have a happy and shameful admission. I have a big bag of sugar cookie nuggets from Schwan's. I had a non-stick sheet pan that was mostly clean except for the heavy sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Lazy me just plopped a few frozen cookie dots right on top of the spice. BAKED them and they were wonderful. That hint of pepper made the cookie sing!

Ribs today and smoked turkey manana.

What is your favorite tailgate experience?

    Hi all
Tina, the sugar cookie with cayenne combination sounds wonderful. We tried jalapeno ice cream one time and it was the same thing -- really sweet with just a zing of heat now and then.
We just finished Roasted Vegetable Wraps that turned out really well so Jason has named it a keeper. Unfortunately we always say we will have to make things again and then we end up trying new things instead. Somehow nothing really gets repeated.
Hope everyone has a great day

Michelle, the wraps sound delicious. I've become a fan of sheet pan oven roasting. Jalapeno ice cream is intriguing and I'm sure I would like it. I should be asleep.
    Have a great day.

We don't have 'letters' in Canada.Cayenne sugar cookie nuggets eh? LOL! I bet they are yummy alright. :) Very much envy you your ribs and smoked turkey. Wow. Afraid I've never had a tailgate experience but it does sound fun. How about you Tina? What was your favourite?
I've never heard of Jalopeno ice cream before Michelle B. I'd try it. :) It's not such a bad thing to continuously try new things! When I come across a recipe I really have enjoyed I put it in a binder of my favourites. And then when I'm drawing a blank as to what to make for dinner I can go through it.
Just woke up so haven't figured out dinner plans yet. Watched a chick flick Hugh Grant movie last night. "The Rewrite". I'm not actually a Hugh Grant fan but it was okay. Good for a laugh.
How did Becca's first day at the new job go Laurie? Hope she had a good one. I'm still chuckling that Rachel was against her working at that location. :) Wow on the 5K run. Good for you. You should be very proud of yourself.

Hi, Happy day. NYM --- Cookies with a kick sound nice --- don't have a sweet tooth>>
Just set an extra place for the ribs --- I'll be right over --- Green godess on my shoulder!!!
Mbelize -- The wraps do look great -- love roastede veg at best of times. I do tend to repeat certain récipes but have to watch don't get fed up of them --- doing new is always exciting --- and has "The will it work?" uncertainty factor.

Morning Y'all! Thanks for the warm welcome yesterday. Today is Whinesday for me. I'm having my vehicle windshield replaced and am tired of sitting here, lol. They told me when I made the appointment a minimum of 3 hours. Three didn't sound so bad then, but now I'm 1.5 hours in and over it. LOL Sugar cookies with cayenne do not sound appealing, but I might taste them at least if someone offered. :-) I've never really tailgated, but that last photo looks scrumptious!

Hi Michelle, thanks for adding your name sure helps me! :-) We love roasted veggies and sometimes stuff them in pita with hummus. Mmmm. I'm the type to find a new recipe an wear it out if we like it. Lots of repeats in my kitchen. (Picky eater here.)

    Hi Don!

I don't have the slightest clue on supper, but I guess I have another 1.5 hours free time to figure it out, while I twiddle my thumbs. :-). Hope y'all have a good day!

Hi Janet, Tina, MichelleB, Laceyworks, and all lurkers and drop-ins.

Kittens were locked up most of yesterday so they are on overdrive, leaping 2 feet in the air and "attacking" each other and anything near. Including my just-bought purse. This morning they have not slowed down, even sneaked into the sun room but were overcome by a coaster than intrigued them and led to their capture.

Have no clue what to fix for dinner - tonight is too far away. It is proving to be a busy week. Too much to do and too little time to do it. We grabbed a sandwich yesterday because we had to be in Rolla in the evening. Tomorrow we have a funeral to attend. Friday two kittens and A.C. need appts. for shots, and sadly, our daughter's 18 year old cat has reached his last days and must be euthanized -- of course, this is the cat who was not supposed to reach his second birthday, so he led a very happy and unexpectedly long life.

I am signing up for a class to "empower women" who want to increase their shooting skills, since mine is a rank beginner status I am sure it will benefit me. It includes 30 minutes of range time with one-on-one instruction. Having scoped out the place, I am reassured that they are patient and customer-focused, and their aim is to familiarize their clients with proper and safe shooting techniques.

Friends are stopping by to borrow the trailer so I must scoot! Coffee is on and we are in the sun room procrastinating post-weekend cleanup.

Whinesday for me too, haha. Kids whining this morning, didn't want to get up, couldn't find clothes, yada yada! I had a horrible migraine yesterday, and my son the night before after Sophia had it in the morning. Stress, allergies, food?? Who knows, but I am better this am.
I'm afraid we don't have tailgating here in Canada. At least I have never heard of it or seen it here! I've heard about it and seen it on tv of course, from the US. But I think we have laws here against that, lol ;) I love the sugar cookies in cayenne!!
I have chicken quarters, and since I have Naan bread and yogurt leftover I think tonight will be Dons Tandoori Chicken Nirvana off to marinade it....
Have a great day everyone! :)

Hi all! Tina, put a bag of Oreos and a glass of milk in front of me and I could eat the whole bag. I bet the hint of spice from the cayenne was amazing with the sweet.

Roasted Vegetable Wraps looks delicous Michelle. I hardly ever cook the same thing twice too, we love trying new stuff!

I haven't seen that movie Janet but we always like a good laugh so I may check it out :)

Yum on your dinner Don...I haven't had trout in forever!

Yeah, 3 hours can really drag on Lacey...that's when I hop on Pinterest...then the time flies by!

Thanks for posting that IMI link Marie!

Those kittens sure keep you on your toes Karen! Aww sorry about your daughters kitty :( Glad he had a good life though. What a great class you are taking. Michael and I used to go to the gun range often but it's been a while since we've gone.

I guess I would choose Whinesday. We are at the dentist and will probably be here for a long time :( Not sure if I mentioned but about a month ago when I took the kids to the dentist we found out Caiden had 8 cavities. What? I was shocked. We take good care of his teeth. Wonder if it's a genetics thing...I have always had problems with my teeth. I think I have a filling in every tooth about and 5 crowns. Ugh. Bri on the other hand has never even had one cavity. Anyway he took some meds that are supposed to make him relax so we are waiting for that to kick in then he will go back and get the laughing gas and they will start what I'm guessing is a lot of work...probably will take hours. I hate that he is already missing a day of school.

I had planned on making this recipe I found on AR using beef stew meat (not beef stew, and I can't get the site to pull up to show you) but I forgot to pull the meat out and Michael is sleeping (working g nights) so I can't call to have him take it out. Hopefully we get out here in time so I can thaw it in some cool water. Have a good day everyone!

So Shona! I'm usually the one whining that I don't wanna get up Lol. The kids are the good one's :p. I wake up Bro first and Caiden usually gets up on his own after he hears us shuffling around. Hope all the headaches stay away! Yum on your dinner, can't wait to hear how it turns out!

Tina for to answer about the tailgating. We haven't but we do have football parties in our garage while we watch the game...does that count? lol

Mmmm.....your trout with mashed and sauteed leeks sounds heavenly Don!
Hi Lacey! Good luck with your windshield appointment. Three hours is a bit of a wait for sure. Did you bring a good book with you to help pass the time? :)
Hi Marie! Good luck with your bookwork.
Goodness you are having a busy week Karen. Sorry to hear about the funeral. That's very sad about your daughter's cat. :( Hope you enjoy your gun class.
Since all of you are leaning towards "Whinesday" I will play devil's advocate and say it's Wineday pour moi. :) LOL!
Ugh on the migraine for you and the kids Shona. :( It's major allergy season where we are. Thankfully I don't suffer from any and Jim is taking "Aerius" but he's still fairly miserable. Do let me know how that Tandoori chicken turns out. I LOVE Indian food.
Hi Michelle! LOL @ hopping on Pinterest to make the time fly by. That's a great tip really. :) Awwww....poor Caiden. I hope it goes as easily and swiftly as possible. I had a lot of dental work done when I was a kid as well. Hate dentists.
It's house cleaning day for me today. Here it is noon now and I haven't even started. Okay....closing computer down. Must....go....clean.......ugh.....

Make it Winesday for me, too in about 5 hours.
The cookies with a kick were delicious. The strong vanilla kept it yummy. Schwan's makes a very good cookie.
I have 9 refills waiting for me at the pharmacy. My hostess gift arrived, I just need to fluff the tissue paper.

I've only been to two football games and neither of them did we tailgate. Baseball games, I've been aplenty. Only one had a tailgate and that was opening day for the Rays. Johnn-O roasted a suckling pig in his caja china. Macaroni salad, coleslaw, corn salsa were in the cooler along with a separate cooler for beers and wine coolers.
He made jalapeno poppers on the grill, wings for the folks who don't eat pork. Watermelon fruit salad. Olivia and Allison said it is his yearly tradition. Dessert would be crackerjack in the ball park.

Lacey, sorry to hear about the long wait at the windshield repair. On the plus side, you will be safe. Michelle is right, Pinterst would make the time go faster.
Karen, your crazy kitten antics always give me a chuckle. Good luck with the chores, class and errands.
Marie, EOM stuff is a necessary evil, I suppose. Be kind to yourself, schedule a meditation break or a teatime break.
Don, the Malaguea Lemon And Dill Vinaigrette would be perfect on many fish. I'll have to make it next time Scotty goes fishing and he brings me a fish.
Shona, I'd have to say (like Michelle) I prefer my football party on front of the TV in ac.
Tandoori chicken sounds great. I love the burnished red skin. I hope all the grumpies go away.
Michelle, good luck at the dentist. Caiden will be great. I'm with Janet on the aversion to dentists. Do tell the recipe for the stew meat.
Janet, I have a kitchen to scrub. Argh. I'd rather be watching a funny movie.

Having an attack of the blurry eyes and a nagging back of the neck pain. Haven't had any caffeine yet. Maybe that will do the trick.

They are calling for an El Nino Tina, 90% chance last I heard, of lots and lots of rain here this Winter..it will be so very welcome..except for the areas where there were wildfires..erosion and all.
Don't get me wrong, we are so very pleased we get calls and are staying busy in our GD business.."chuckle" I remember Joce saying she thought it meant something else besides garage doors..I have to agree, sometimes it does:)

Grilled pork steak for Rick..the usual chicken for me, leftover bowtie pasta salad and garlic bread for dinner:)

Janet, the pig wasn't on china. A caja china is a wood box with racks and metal lining. You set up charcoal on the bottom and let burn down to coals, suspend the pig over coals, cover the box with a metal trough and shovel more coals on top. I don;t know how they got the name for the box. It roasts a perfect pig.

9 prescriptions are a major PILL. LOL
I am getting very hungry. Dinner won't be ready until 7. I think a toasted cheese sandwich is in order.

That's awesome on the rainfall forecast Marie. Super good for California. In my book chat yesterday we were reading an article about the author who had visited Muir Woods (home of Redwood Forest fame) a month or so ago. She said the Tanoaks, the Redwoods companion trees were lying dead all over the place and had succumbed to a disease very likely caused by the lack of water in that State. If the redwoods disappear too, that will just be a tragedy. Your dinner sounds yummy.
ROFL @ the pig on china Tina. LOLOLOL. That'll keep me giggling all day. I think you may have told me about that wood box apparatus a long time ago and of course I have promptly forgot. LOLOLOL.

    Hi again
Mine will be a Winesday please - although it is only 8 a.m. just now so a while to wait. Last night we woke up to cats yowling in the yard right outside our window (we don't have a pet at all right now) and then there was plaintive yowling while we ate breakfast again. I went out on the patio to see what was going on because there is a scrawny orange and white cat that has been hanging around and another white one that seems to hunt in our rocks and plants every now and again. It turns out that the scrawny orange cat is actually two scrawny orange cats that look identical and they seem to have both tried to claim our yard. Could be an interesting couple of days until they sort out the territory thing. Whatever it is, something lives or roams back there that has three cats and two mongooses (mongeese?) attention on a regular basis.
Tonight I will be trying a Moroccan themed paella that calls for lamb and chicken as well as dry wine so we will see how that goes.

All of you who have figured out supper are ahead of me. I have chicken breasts to fix or a leftover one than could be utilized in a salad or casserole -- or brats -- or burgers - or a be lazy and fix a Schwanns entree. Just woke up from a nap and am waiting on the drier to get finished.

I am pushing to get rid of more "stuff" for the church yard sale next Saturday and this is the last Sunday for us to bring it in. So far 3 of Wayne's old dress shirts (in great shape but outgrown), a sun dress (ditto), a white lace skirt, a pink scarf, 5 boxes of books, and one very dressy dress have emerged for consideration....I did wash and dry them so they would be clean, can't stand the "stale dust" smell that so many garage sale clothes emit. Plus an assortment of dishes that I no longer use! We have a microwave cart that is next on the "big stuff" list, but it may have to wait until next year or my other half will resist. LOL!

I guess it is in between whine day and wine day. A nice glass of wine would be quite pleasant. Or I could whine about housework not getting done. Or mgraines - I don't get them, Shona, but my mother did, my daughter does, and possibly the youngest GS....the verdict is out whether his are migraines or stress. He came home with a D on a quiz on states and their capital cities, and was mortified because he has to have good grades if he wants to keep on swimming. So now he is studying the capitals of the states on an iPad app during every spare moment, so he will pass the test. He is a smart one, but has to learn the art of studying.

Kitties are dozing. No racing across the room, diving into plastic sacks, crashing across laps, pouncing, or other distractions. At least for the moment.

    Have a good day, everyone.

Karen, when Olivia had to learn the capitols, I made ridiculous picture flash card reminders. The sillier the picture the easier to recall the name. ie Topeka Kansas, I drew some ugly toes 'peeking' out of a can labeled Kansas. Frankfort KY was a picture of hot dogs in buns making the KY fort fence. Sacramento CA was a 'sack' of mentos candy with a CA outline on the bag. Some were too hard to draw and she had to memorize by rote repetition. Tallahassee was Tell a Lassie with a girl on the FL beach.

    I'd vote Schwan's.
Janet, I wanted a caja china for a long time, but then I couldn't fathom buying a pig. Plus it would feed a huge amount of people and I don't know a huge amount of people.

Sounds like a rough night noise wise Michelle B. Very intrigued by the Mongooses though. Very cool. Wow on the Paella. I've never had that or made that.
You'll have a good haul for the Church yard sale Karen. I need to make a trip over to the Salvation Army to drop off a good sized box of extra stuff myself. I'm sure your Grandson will pass his test with flying colours. A 'D' never hurt anyone and is a good wake up call.
LOL Tina at your picture cards for Liv. How wonderful. I bet she remembers them to this day. I believe that's a caja china you put in the Group avatar? Am I right this time? LOLOLOL.
I'M DONE THE HOUSEWORK! I'M DONE THE HOUSEWORK! HURRAY! Gonna go take a shower and see about that cocktail. :)

A paella is very good. I like when the rice gets a tiny bit crusty on the bottom. Mom made our with chicken thighs, chorizo, mussels and shrimp. Delicious.

Rachel actually lettered last year when she was injured she served as team manager, helping run the practices and keeping the scores during all the games.

Ran around all day today, worked then drove Rachel to practice Becca just had to go to Trader Joes not sure why so we went there and Rachel has an addiction to these grapes called Cotton candy grapes. I don't like them and they taste like their name so I had to go to Wegmans to get those because that's the only place that sells them. Sushi for dinner. Then to Walmart for an iron and some school supplies. Now I'm relaxing.

I wanted to update really fast, Caiden did great, the laughing gas knocked his little butt out, BUT he did wake up a hot mess. Took a lot of cuddling and loving to get him to calm down, fine with me :) :) I had no idea that when kids get cavities they get these huge silver ugly caps on their teeth! I was not expecting that. ALL of his back teeth have caps, and they are horrid. At least they will fall out in the next three to five years, i guess.

Laurie, just wanted to say that I have seen those cotton candy grapes lol! Someone in the check out line had them and the she had the cashier taste one to prove it tasted like cotton candy and the cashier was in complete shock. She said after work she was going to buy out those cotton candy grapes lol.

Caiden has been passed out most of the time home, mainly from the Tylenol with Codiene (sp.?) but is wide awake now, go figure at bed time lol. I'll keep him up until 10:30 then I'll give him more tylenol, then back to school in the morning, silver teeth and all! Good night everyone!
